Polar Bear Plunge, Feb 19th

Here is the link for the Polar Bear Plunge.  We would like to get a group, or a few people, interested in going up for a night. Registration costs $25 with a minimum goal of $100 in donations.  I'm unsure of the group/team rates; it still says $25, but I'm not sure if it's for the team or the individual.

This is not as a Lodge event, but a charitable event in which one of our Brothers is participating, and for which we are informally but happily supporting his efforts. Membership Petitions - A reminder to all members to submit all membership petitions by Septemberl 1st, for September's regular communication. An information packet for perspective candidates interested in learning more about Freemasonry can be found on our website at: http://collingswoodcloud101.org/en/nj-membership-petition.html .

Craftman's Association is looking for brother Mason's from all lodges to donate any unopened bottles of alcohol sitting unused in their liquor cabinets as a "wheelbarrow of cheer" fundraiser for Friends of Collingswood Cloud Lodge Masonic Library. The progress on the library has been slower than anticipated because of funding issues. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be going to buy new books and materials for our library. If you can donate your time or financial resources to this worthy cause, Please contact SW Don Elfreth or DOR Ben Foster, PGC.

Lodge Library RenovationOur next Saturday meeting is TBD, Our floor in the library room is finally complete. This week the rewiring of the recessed lighting should be completed then we can move on to install the new Victorian ceiling tiles in the drop down ceiling. Also, we are looking for a display cabinet to showcase books and other items relevant to our lodges history. We'll be meeting for breakfast at the Collingwood Diner in Collingswood at 8:00am followed by a work session pertaining to the renovation our lodge library. It should concluded by 12-1pm.  This is one of a handful of dates in which our lodge needs volunteers and is our chance to do our part. Please make every effort to attend and support this important service event. If you have never attended this event before, please contact Don Elfreth at 856-325-7292 for more information.

Masonic Funeral Etiquette - In light of our brother Addis passing on to that Celestial Lodge on high, I thought it necessary to illustrate the Grand Honors for funeral occasions. The Grand Honors for funeral occasions are given by crossing the arms on the breast, the right hand over the heart, the left hand uppermost. "We cherish his memory here." Both hands are then extended toward the ground with the palms up." We commit his body to the dust." Both hands are then raised as in the act of supplication. "And we commend his spirit to God who gave it."

"The real Freemason is distinguished from the rest of mankind by the uniform unrestrained rectitude of his conduct. Other men are honest in the fear of the punishment which the law might inflict; they are religious in expectation of being rewarded, or in dread of the devil, in the next world. A Freemason would be just if there were no laws, human or divine, except those which are written in his heart by the finger of his Creator. In every climate, under every system of religion, he is the same. He kneels before the universal throne of God, in gratitude for the blessings he has received, and in humble solicitation for his future protection. He venerates the good men of all religions. He disturbs not the religion of others. He restrains his passions, because they cannot be indulged without injuring his neighbor or himself. He gives no offense, because he does not choose to be offended. He contracts no debts which he is not certain that he can discharge, because he is honest upon principle."

Welcome, friend.  Please read further to learn more about us as a lodge: who we are as Masons and from whence we hail. The history of Collingswood Cloud Lodge No.101 of F. & A.M is as interesting as those who make up its membership. Currently, we have a membership of around 230 members; our ranks are comprised of men from all walks of life and we’re proud to say that we’ve been making good men better since 1870.
